Over 400 Christmas boxes were collected by the St Stithians Boys’ College help those in need as part of the yearly Santa Shoebox Initiative.

Youngsters from the school have been working hard over the past few months to collect goods for those less fortunate.

Drop-offs for the initiative took place at the end of September and the beginning of October and were managed by teams of volunteers from the local community.

The Santa Shoebox Project originated in Cape Town in 2006 with a humble 180 shoeboxes.

In 12 years the number of Santa Shoeboxes donated reached a total of 762 594 boxes.

The shoeboxes are distributed to more than 1 000 recipient facilities each year, through more than 60 satellite centres around South Africa and Namibia.

The school would like to thank all who assisted the Santa Shoebox Initiative, and the youngsters who gave their time during the weekend.
