Police appeal to smash-and-grab victim to come forward

RANDBURG – After a suspect was captured shortly after a smash-and-grab on 3 October, police are asking the victim to come forward.

The Randburg police are appealing to the driver of a black Volkswagen Golf who was the victim of a smash-and-grab incident on 3 October to come forward.

The incident occurred in the late afternoon when the victim was stationary at the corner of Oxford Road and Malibongwe Drive and was robbed by three suspects who stole valuables from the vehicle.

Nearby police officers were alerted to the crime and responded accordingly.

The officers gave chase after the suspects and managed to subdue and arrest one individual.

However, the victim of the crime was nowhere to be found on the scene and presumably sped away.

Randburg police spokesperson Captain Makgowanyana Maja said, “We need the complainant to contact us as soon as possible so that we can build a solid case against the captured suspect.”

The victim of the crime is encouraged to report to the Randburg Police Station or phone 011 449 9110.
