St Stithians youngsters enjoy Round Square conference in Canada

LYME PARK – St Stithians youngsters travelled to Canada for a fun and educational conference.

Youngsters of St Stithians Girls’ and Boys’ colleges travelled to Canada for the Round Square International Conference 2018 on 27 September.

The boys and girls joined 300 other international delegates from schools around the world.

The St Stithians Round Square delegation of teachers and learners gather in front of Ottowa’s parliament buildings.

St Stithians joined Round Square 20 years ago, an organisation that serves to promote the ideals of internationalism, democracy, environmentalism, adventure, leadership and service.

The programme saw the youth taking part in adventure activities, local service work and environmental conservation.

It is designed to put delegates at the core of the experience, allowing them to shape their own learning journey through a process of enquiry and experience.

Round Square director of St Stithians Girls’ College Christine Ashton said, “The theme of this year’s conference was Bring your difference. We were challenged in our thinking and actions with regards to difference and multiculturalism, to be who we are and not create a third identity and to be part of the change.

“We are so proud of our St Stithians girls and boys and the way in which they have represented their school and their country.”

The conference was hosted by Ashbury College, Lower Canada College and Appleby College in Canada.
