Footprints Prep plants vegetables for the community of Malanshof

MALANSHOF – Footprints Special Needs Preparatory School has planted vegetables that will soon be enjoyed by all in the community.

The children of Footprints Special Needs Preparatory School planted the vegetables needed for their community urban garden situated at corner Republic Road and Silver Pine Avenue.

The principal of the school, Sharon Rowe said the community at large will soon be able to tuck into some great vegetables.

This gesture, which was aimed to help the community, saw the children construct the pallet needed to house the vegetables.

“The children will now come up every day to water the garden and make sure everything is growing as it should,” said Rowe.

Their hopes are to see their small garden grow to cover the corner where it is situated and become a pure urban garden all to enjoy.

Footprints Special Needs Preparatory School learners are very excited to serve the community one vegetable at a time.

Vegetables that were planted on the day were tomatoes, cabbages, three different kinds of lettuce, brinjals, coriander, basil, leeks, beetroot, avocado, fennel and tarragon, to name a few.

The vegetables are expected to be ready for the community’s enjoyment right in time for the summer.

Children were all excited to get this new venture started and eagerly await to see its success through the community’s support.

There will be a sign put up to tell people that they are welcomed to pick a vegetable of their choice.

People are still more than welcome to donate seeds or structures to house the growing vegetable garden the school has envisaged will be a glorious success.
