All aboard the Great Model Train Expo 2018

PRESIDENT RIDGE – Have your tickets at the ready for this local school holiday fun event.

The Great Model Train Expo will return for this year’s instalment at Hoërskool Randburg on the weekend of 6 October.

Perfectly set during the school holidays, train enthusiasts young and old are encouraged to come and experience the wonders of scale model train building.

The event is organised by two train enthusiasts who believe that the locomotive industry has much more to offer.

Rinke Blok of the Model Train Shop in Randpark Ridge and Marinus Kort of the N Gauge Guild said the expo was for everyone who had a keen interest in model trains.

“We have fun with everything to do with model trains. The event not only showcases model train layouts, second-hand model trains, new and imported model trains, but there are plenty of other fun activities, food, and craft beer on offer,” said Blok.

The event promises a fun and interactive experience for all who attends and there will be various gauges and sizes of trains on exhibit.

All proceeds from the event will go to charitable causes, including cancer research foundation Cansa, and the Reef Steamers NPC, who aim to preserve the legacy of steam trains in Johannesburg.
