It was a groundbreaking start to the day when Spark Schools broke ground on their new location.
Co-founder and CEO of the school, Stacey Brewer, said their first school was launched about five years ago and since then the school has grown leaps and bounds.
“We operate 15 schools and educate about 7 000 children and employ close to 750 staff.”
She added that what sets this school apart from any other is their learning model, which enables them to develop individual learning plans for every child to achieve.
Brewer explained that when the school was first started, they never really intended on becoming a High School as the idea was just to open a network of primary schools, but the big demand from parents to grow was their biggest push.
Their new property is in Ferndale and will be called Spark Randburg High School and is envisaged to ready and open by January next year for their first year of Grade 8s.
“I am very excited because this means our first year of matrics will be in 2023, and we now ensuring that we continue with our children throughout their school journey,” said Brewer.
The plan is to renovate the existing structure and make sure it serves the first year of the school’s learning model.
The school is spurred on by pure excitement of what the future holds for them and by seeing what the children might become.
“This will be our first real proof point of what Spark Schools can do,” said Brewer.
She also said what other schools can take from them is their focus on culture and making sure to create a positivity that has a strong ethos on learning, “It does not matter what our children do in future, as long as they love learning they will make sure they are ready for that stage of their life.”
