Reddy family wants closure following son’s death in car accident

RANDBURG – Family still grieving loss of brother.

It has been tough going for the family of Caleb Reddy who died in a vehicle collision in December last year.

Although it is now nine months since the accident, the family is still awaiting justice in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.

The accused, Samuel Aiyeobasan, is still in police custody and faces two charges of culpable homicide.

Aiyeobasan’s brother who was a passenger in the accused’s vehicle also succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

The accused was allegedly drunk when he ploughed his car into Reddy’s vehicle near Sandton Medi Clinic.

The Reddy family is still grieving the loss of Caleb who was supposed to graduate in Economics and Theoretical Statistics this year.

The case has been postponed while prosecutors await more evidence from the scene and medical reports.

The Reddy family has received immense support from the community and the South Africans Against Drunk Driving organisation.

Reddy’s sister Sarally said it had been an uphill battle for her family and all they wanted to do was get some closure from the justice system.

“I am an advocate against drinking and driving because for just a little fun, lives have been taken and families are hurt,” she said.

“It is not worth it to go through such a situation. We want justice done but we know that it won’t bring my brother back to us.”
No date has been set for the resumption of the case.
