A fire engulfed a townhouse complex on Alice Street in the late afternoon of 24 August.

According to Ward 98 councillor Beverley Weweje who was on the scene, the blaze started at the Cleo Court complex in Windsor West just before 5pm.

Around 5.03pm, emergency services received the alert from residents, and at 5.06pm, the first responders arrived.

She said, “The cause of the fire has yet to be confirmed by the Fire Department’s forensics services.

The owners of some of the units were quite devastated, as were the tenants.

Weweje continued, “I would like to commend the emergency services for their amazing response time. In a time such as this, I am so humbled in the way that the community has rallied behind this disaster.

“I would also like to thank the Fairland CPF and the Healing Water NPO for their assistance too.”
