Suspected car jammers arrested on Malibongwe Drive

STRIJDOM PARK – A tip-off helped police capture two suspected signal jamming thieves.

Two alleged car thieves with signal jamming equipment were arrested on Malibongwe Drive on 20 August.

Randburg Police Station spokesperson Captain Makgowanyana Maja said, “In the early afternoon, sector managers received information through intelligence regarding a suspicious vehicle on Malibongwe Drive near Strijdom Park.”

On duty officers immediately reacted to the area and tracked the vehicle according to a description given.

Maja continued, “The officers managed to stop the vehicle at the corner of Lyn Road and Malibongwe Drive to search it.”

Officers discovered three jamming devices, two laptops, a sharpened car breaking implement, and set of keys.

Maja said, “The two occupants were immediately arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen properties as they failed to account for the possession of the said items.”

The suspects are expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court soon and the investigation continues.
