Unika’s gymnast wins gold at national tournament

ROBINDALE – Gymnast excels at national competition

Grade 4 youngster Chiara Muller excelled at a recent gymnastics tournament.

Laerskool Unika’s Chiara Muller won a gold medal at the recent RG North Zone Festival.

The national event was held at the Kliprivier Recreation Park, South of Johannesburg. The grade 4 youngster competed in the U10 Rhythmic Gymnast category against gymnasts from across the country.

Rhythmic gymnastics combines elements of ballet, gymnastics, dance and apparatus manipulation.

Points are earned for leaps, balances, pirouettes (pivots), apparatus handling and execution.

The choreography must cover the entire floor and contain a balance of jumps, leaps, pivots, balances and flexibility movements.
