Early morning traffic was disrupted on Beyer’s Naudé Drive after a vehicle hit an Outsurance points person on 15 August.
According to eyewitnesses on the scene, a taxi performed an illegal move at high spend, prompting the female points person to run out of the way into the path of a Jeep sports utility vehicle.
The driver of the Jeep said that the point person stood in the middle of the intersection of Beyers Naudé Drive and Peter Road, instructing forward moving traffic to proceed, and not turn.
The taxi driver ignored this, proceeding to turn into the path of the point person at a high speed.
The Jeep driver said, “As I was driving, she ran into my path and I hit her. The taxi sped off and didn’t even stop to check if she was okay.”
According to paramedics on the scene, the points person is in a stable condition and has been taken to hospital for further treatment.
