Man found dead in Maid Marion Avenue

LINDEN – Motorists at the scene behaved appallingly.

Linden police have confirmed that a man, believed to be in his mid-30s, died of a heart attack near Laerskool Unika and the police station.

According to police captain Alex Vermaak, the man was found dead on Maid Marion Avenue by two teachers from the school.

“The unknown black male was spotted by reaction officers from Trojan Security early that morning and he did not look well but he indicated to the reaction officers that he was aright. The officers then left to patrol,” said Vermaak.

“When the reaction officers returned to Maid Marion Avenue, the man had already passed away and the avenue had to be cordoned off. Paramedics were called to the scene and he was declared dead. Foul play was ruled out but an investigation will take place.”

Captain Vermaak also asked the community to respect police officers and not try to force their way through when a road is blocked.

“While investigating the scene, there was some impatient motorists who wanted to drive on Maid Marion Avenue even though it was closed. We ask the community to respect the law or face a stiff penalty.”
