Rand Park High School held its glittering annual Mr and Miss Rand Park pageant on 4 August.
The Superheroes-themed pageant had contestants from Grade 11 and 12 competing for the top spot.
After the judges tallied up their scores, the ultimate winners of the night were Dylan Courtaillac and Cara Meiring, crowned Mr and Miss Rand Park respectively.
The runners-up were Tashan Chetty (1st Prince), Micah Forsythe (1st Princess), 2nd Prince Trystan Neville (2nd Prince) and Samantha Thomas (2nd Princess).
Each contestant selected their favourite superhero and had to walk across the stage and catwalk that hero’s outfit, followed by a ‘Paris walk’ and formal wear sequence.
The judges selected five girls and five boys to proceed to the final round of the pageant which included a question and answer session.
The pageant judges were Marlene Spies of Figures Talent International, Angela Perdichizzi of Ticia Group and Miss Plus Size South Africa 2017, and Michelle Bradshaw, an actress and voice artist.
The show included special performances by Rand Park’s school band, Suspended, and performances by the Jozi Youth Dance Company and Rand Park High’s hip-hop dancers.
Alan Wilke, principal of Rand Park High School, congratulated the contestants on participating in the event and acknowledged the organisers, judges, sponsors and the matric dance committee for their commitment and contribution to a successful event. The pageant aimed to help raise funds for the school’s matric dance.
