Female suspect to appear in court after Ferndale stabbing

RANDBURG – After an afternoon stabbing incident, a woman is to appear in court to face attempted murder charges.

A 31-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after she allegedly stabbed a person late in the afternoon on a Ferndale street.

Randburg police were on their regular patrol of the streets of Ferndale on 29 July when they received a complaint about an incident on the corner of Mikro and Pretoria streets.

Randburg Police Station spokesperson Captain Makgowanyana Maja said, “Officers rushed to the scene and upon their arrival, they noticed a group of people approaching them.

They noticed a victim lying in a pool of blood and were informed by the group that the victim had been stabbed with a bottle in the upper body.”

The ambulance was summoned and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

During the police’s preliminary investigations, witnessed alleged that the woman had attacked the man, and she was arrested on the spot.

She is expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court to face a charge of attempted murder.
