The Curro Aurora equestrian team staged an enthralling display for their school, to show their skills and encourage others to take part at the same time.
After a riding successful season, the aim of the event was to showcase the skills of the Curro Aurora riding team, as well as to present equestrian as a sport for aspiring youngsters.
Four Curro Aurora riders and one guest matriculant from the previous year took part in the display that started with a parade of horses, followed by dressage and show jumping events.
Representative of Sanesa Gauteng West, Kerryan Maher said, “We feel that equestrian is not being promoted enough, and we want to show that even if a youngster has not even touched a horse, equestrian sports are for everyone.
The aim of today is to create exposure to the beauty of these creatures and the sport itself.”
The school’s executive head JC Engelbrecht added, “At Curro Aurora we want to create opportunities for all learners in both traditional and non-mainstream sports.
As some sports take place off school grounds, today is the perfect opportunity to showcase the amazing talents of our equestrian team, and encourage other learners to participate.”
Almost 1 700 children from both the Curro Aurora Primary and High School eagerly awaited the artistic and skilful displays of the Aurora riding team.
The event was set-up by Aragon Stables in Northcliff, who hold approximately 72 horses, with some available for public riding.
Aragon Stables representative Gina Gerber said, “We love playing our part for the Sanesa schools show. Today, we demonstrated what horse-riding is all about, that even if you don’t have your own horse, you can still compete at school competitions, and to show that riding is a fun and fabulous sport.”
