Honeydew police increase manpower in Cosmo City and Zandspruit

HONEYDEW – Police are said to have increased patrols in certain areas that are still a cause for concern.

The local police station is working overtime to tackle crime in its precinct.

The Honeydew Police Station is still battling crime in Cosmo City and Zandspruit Informal Settlements.

Police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said they have increased police patrols in the troubled areas, especially in shopping centres and malls.

“Other than those areas, we have been winning the battle against crime but we are not where we want to be,” he said.

Earlier this month, from the 9 to 13 July, Honeydew station officers arrested 52 people on various charges ranging from shoplifting, possession of stolen property and possession of dagga and according to Muthan those arrested appeared at the Randburg and Roodepoort Magistrates Courts.

He also issued another warning to the community members, not to build illegal backrooms in their yards.

“This increases robberies and housebreaking in the community. These backrooms are also illegally connected to electricity and that causes fires and leads to deaths.”
