Crest parents spend their 67 minutes revamping school

FERNDALE – The parents of Crest Learning School spend the morning making their children's school look beautiful.

Armed with paint brushes and overalls, parents of Crest Learning School celebrated the late Nelson Mandela by revamping parts of their school.

Crest joined the world for the annual Mandela Day celebrations in their own special way.

The parents are said to be enthusiastic about helping others and on 14 July they repainted the interior of the school. The charitable work was regarded as a success as parents, children, staff and friends of the school all joined hands for the greater good.

The school, which is a remedial centre that provides learning support to children from grades R to 7, who require full-time remedial support, fully believe in the ideals of South Africa’s late former president.

The principal of the school, Carrie Mercado, affirmed their passion for community development and she used a Nelson Mandela quote to express this.

‘What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made in the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we led’.

This shows the shared vision between Crest and Madiba.

The school extended its gratitude to everyone who was involved in the day.

“The enthusiasm and fellowship shared made for a happy and productive morning,” said Mercado, adding that the work accomplished would not have been possible without the hard work of all involved.
