Suspect arrested in Ferndale after alleged murder

FERNDALE – The suspect is expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates' Court on charges of murder.

A 38-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court soon to face a charge of murder.

It is alleged that on 8 July at about 9.30pm, police were called to the scene at the corner of Braamfischer Drive and Dover Street in Ferndale. Captain Makgowanyana Maja of Randburg Police Station said on their arrival, they noticed the victim lying on the ground and bleeding.

“The paramedics were called to the scene and upon arrival, the victim was certified dead,” he said. He added that the deceased had been allegedly stabbed by the suspect with an unknown object. “The suspect was immediately placed under arrest.”

Meanwhile, Maja said there were other arrests made on the weekend which included 11 drunk drivers, one for assault under the domestic violence act and one for reckless and negligent driving.
