Walk and shop for a great cause

CRESTA – The third annual Cresta Mall Walk is ready to begin on 8 July.

It’s time for the third annual Cresta Mall Walk on 8 July and it’s all to benefit charity at Cresta Shopping Centre.

The event is a fun, fit and interactive experience and a fun way to shop for a great cause.

Shaun and Lindie Tucker who started the walk three years ago created the initiative as a challenge between themselves to assist charitable organisations in Randburg and get some exercise at the same time.

With the success of the two previous walks and many community members taking part, the walk is back for its third instalment.

Shaun Tucker said, “We are trying to collect as many goods as possible for the Bethany House Trust. We have been given a wish list from them and we would like to see just how much we could put together to donate to them,

“We want to have fun while doing a little ‘exercise’, and we will be counting our steps along the way. We will also be giving a few prizes out to those who earn a spot.”

To join the walk, you will need to register at Cresta Entrance 7 before the walk begins and 10am. You will also be given a ‘shopping list’ of goods and the stores that you need to buy them from, with the prices you should be paying.

Walkers will also be given a list of questions that need to be answered, where they will have to walk to certain shops in the centre to find the correct answers.

Tucker continued, “You have one and a half hours to roam the mall, do some shopping and find the answers to the questions. When you have finished, you need to return to the starting point with all your purchases so that they can be put away for transport to the charity.”

When the day is done, participants will be shown what their step-count for the day was and just how many steps they took while shopping for charity, will be worked out.

Tucker said, “You are then invited to join us for a coffee and cake or lunch and chill, chat, maybe make some new friends and work out who has won some prizes.”
