The Curro Aurora High School cheerleading teams competed in a provincial cheerleading tournament held at St Dominic’s School in Boksburg earlier this month.

The teams competed in three categories, resulting in the

Curro Blue Lightning Group Stunt Group and Curro Blue Storm Co-ed Squad finishing in second place, and the Curro Blue Ice all-girl small squad placing third.

All three squads qualified for the national tournament to be held in Oudtshoorn this month.

Cheerleading initially started at the primary school and proved to be so popular that the high school joined in.

Curro Aurora’s head of sports Adrian Ferreira said, “Cheerleading has been taking place at our high school for a number of years, and during this time they have achieved amazing results. It has proven to be a popular sport at both the primary and high school level.”

At last year’s national tournament, the all-girls and co-ed teams achieved second place.

Ferreira added, “We are looking forward to all teams competing well in the nationals, and we wish both the primary and high school teams all the best.”
