RANDBURG – Are you the king of the kitchen? Enter our Father's Day potjiekos competition, and support The Lighthouse Baby Shelter while you are at it.
Father’s Day is upon us and Randburg Sun, together with Northwold Spar and Northwold Junction have got the perfect way for you to celebrate with your family.
Join us on 16 June, from 8am as we cook up a storm in a bid to name Randburg’s first Potjie King.
R200 secures your spot in the competition. This entrance fee will be donated in full to Northwold Spar’s chosen charity, The Lighthouse Baby Shelter.
Bring along your potjie pot, ingredients and cooking utensils and spend a day soaking up the warm, winter sunshine with your children.
A fantastic family fun day is planned – we have music, jumping castles and food!
Fantastic prizes are up for grabs, including a R2 000 Spar voucher for our 1st place winner, a R500 Spar voucher for our 2nd place winner and a R200 voucher for our 3rd place winner.
Each entrant will also receive a hamper, and there will be plenty of spot prizes on the day.
The Lighthouse Baby Shelter will be on hand on the day to collect the proceeds.

So how will it work?
Teams will arrive bright and early on the day, and the cooking will commence!
At about 2pm, each team will present a ‘taster’ platter to members of the public, who will pay R5 to taste, and then vote.
At the end of the day, the public votes will be tallied, and a winner will be announced.
One member of the public who participated in the voting process will also win a fantastic prize from Northwold Spar.
