Rand Park High School’s piano virtuoso Jason Wilson will represent South Africa in the Talent America contest in New York in July this year.

Wilson has only been playing the piano for the past three and a half years but has already developed enough talent to take him to the Big Apple to test out his skills against worldwide competitors.

“I have never been overseas for anything, and now I am going to play something that I am passionate about in New York City. It’s scary, but exciting at the same time,” Jason said.

At home, Jason, in Grade 11, has obtained federation provincial colours in performing arts.

“On the piano, I love playing jazz and music by Ed Sheeran, but for the competition, I will be playing my own original composition.”

Talent America is a showcase of young artists and was established with the core objective of creating the most prestigious international talent competition.

One of the main aims behind the competition is to give artists with the relevant talent the best opportunity to be exposed to all that the entertainment world can offer at both national and international level.
