Join Africa Day celebrations with the Windsor Anti-Drug Coalition

WINSDOR – Celebrate in the most diverse community.

The Windsor Anti-Drug Coalition, formerly known as the Local Drug Action Committee (LDAC) will be celebrating Africa Day this coming weekend, 2 June.

The event will be hosted at the Windsor East Recreation Centre, and Africa Day is an annual commemoration that brings greater unity and solidarity between African countries.

It also strives for accelerated political and socio-economic integration of the continent. The day is usually celebrated on 25 May.

Chairperson of the coalition, Thule Mdleleni said because Windsor is such a diverse community, celebrating each other’s culture is a great way to socialise.

“We are all Africans so we invite all our African brothers and sisters to come and share their culture,” said Mdleleni. “We also urge the community to wear their traditional outfits and bring food from their home country so that we can all learn more about each other.

“We all have common problems in Windsor such as drugs, so by meeting in such a social and relaxed manner, it will help us in the future when it comes to assisting in remedying the problems.”

The event will be held at Windsor East Recreation Centre from 1pm. For more information, contact Mdleleni on 079 796 0183 or Zainab Cader on 065 826 0417.
