Four armed suspects attempt robbery at Honeydew Shopping Centre

HONEYDEW – Three of the four suspects have been arrested.

Four suspects, one armed, attempted to rob a business early this morning at Honeydew Shopping Centre.

Diepsloot police spokesperson, Captain Tinyiko Mathebula, said the suspects stole someone’s bank card while they withdrew cash from a nearby ATM. Bystanders spotted them and gave chase, detaining one.

Mathebula said two others ran into a grocery store where the armed suspect threatened an employee to open the safe. The other hid in the cash office, he said.

“The complainant managed to escape and ran outside and the suspect locked himself inside.”

The two suspects were late arrested by police and are being detained at Honeydew police station.
