Bike thieves nabbed by Randburg police

RANDBURG – Two suspects were recently arrested by the Randburg police after being caught with a stolen motorbike in their possession.

Two suspects were arrested by the Randburg police after being caught with a stolen motorbike in their possession.

In the late afternoon of 13 April, Randburg police received a complaint of a stolen motorbike.

The bike’s owner had taken the precaution to install a tracking device on the motorbike which the officers were able to track travelling along the N1 highway, and had then taken the William Nicol Road off-ramp.

Randburg police spokesperson, Captain Makgowanyana Maja said, “The officers spotted the [motorcycle] and stopped it. Upon initial investigation, it was established that the [bike] was positively stolen… The two suspects were arrested on the spot.”

Upon further questioning, the officers discovered that the suspect’s base of operation was nearby. The officers were led to a property in Ferndale where a stolen car was also discovered.

The car and motorbike were impounded and suspects were detained.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court to face charges of possession of the stolen motorbike and car.

Maja added that the investigation was continuing to determine if the two suspects were linked to other related crimes.
