CRESTA – Minor spurts of protest action flared up on the early morning of 18 April after mass evictions took place in Windsor East on 17 April.

According to Linden police who were on the scene, groups of four to five men started to burn tyres at various intersections in the Windsor East area.

The burning tyres would block traffic and the men would quickly disperse when police arrived.

As one fire was doused, another would flare up about a kilometre away.

The largest fire took place on the corner of Pendoring Road and Beyers Naude Drive where burning tyres blocked all four crossings at the intersection.

Metro police who were on the scene, quickly doused the flames and made sure traffic was not disrupted too much.

Linden and Metro police are closely monitoring the situation.
