Sisters are doin’ it for themselves at Trinityhouse

RANDPARK RIDGE – Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge hosts their annual major production titled 'Sisters are doin' for themselves' to a mesmerised audience.

This year’s major production at Trinityhouse High School Randpark Ridge got the audience beguiled as they watched a stage full of talented performers take to their characters with ease.

This year’s production was titled Sisters are Doin’ it for Themselves and was said to be a delight from beginning to end.

Recently, the 80-strong cast and crew of the school’s major production wowed the audiences with their stellar acting, singing and dancing performances.

The production was inspired by the 1997 film, Sister Act and each child who was chosen to be part of the show, certainly delivered.

The audience followed the journey of washed-out Vegas lounge singer, Christy van Cartier, as she discovered what it truly means to be a selfless person who thinks about others first.

On the way, she discovers the meaning of friendship and love. Peppered with songs such as The Beatles’ Help, Tina Turner’s River Deep, Mountain High and ABBA’s The Winner Takes It All.

Many in the audience were delighted to sing along.

The production would not have been complete without a performance of I will follow Him, which touched the hearts of many in the audience as they were moved by the duet performed by Ana Damjanovic, who took the lead role and Tyla van Niekerk, who played the role of Mother Superior.

Director, Andrea Dawson was asked after one of the performances how she managed to get so many children to participate in the production.

“Getting children to participate is actually not the difficult part – it is having to turn many children away,” adding that so many learners are so enthusiastic about drama. “There’s nothing to beat the feeling that one has while on a stage, performing and bringing so much joy to those in the audience,” said Dawson.

Dawson shared it takes a great deal of effort to put a production of this magnitude together, supported by a team of teachers who are dedicated to the success of the show.

Coupled with this, nothing would be possible without the support of the parents, who willingly fetched and carried their children at all hours.
