Gauteng braces itself with the hosting of Miss SA

JOHANNESBURG – A not-to-be-missed weekend of top speakers and personalities, fragrance, fashion and entertainment regional competition.

Women360, a highly successful expo which helps women explore new avenues to enrich and enhance their lives will be held in Gauteng in April.

The expo comes amid shows in Durban and Cape Town held during March and it will include the hotly contested Miss South Africa regional competition.

There will be a diverse range of speakers and personalities – from celebrity chef Siba Mtongana and current Miss South Africa, Dr Adè van Heerden to social media law expert, Emma Sadleir.

Celebrity chef Siba Mtongana will also be part of the Women360 expo to be held at the Carnival City Casino Sun Park in Brakpan.

The event will be held at Carnival City Casino Sun Park in Brakpan from 13 to 15 April with the official Miss South Africa Gauteng regional competition taking place simultaneously.

TheWomen360 Expo will offer a diverse experience with everything from fashion and fragrance, health, and nutrition to the latest aesthetics treatments and self-defence, according to the organisers.

Gareth Flusk, an organiser on behalf of Sun International, said the stylish Oyster and Champagne Garden will offer fabulous food as well as entertainment from Sketchy Bongo and DJ Zinhle.

He said the Women360 Expo will open with a fashion show where up-and-coming Gauteng designers will show off their collections as they vie for the opportunity to become part of the select group of designers who will dress Miss South Africa 2018 during her year of reign.

On the following day, doors will open for an action-packed day of activities with the stage programme commencing at 12pm, he said.

“The Miss South Africa organisation has set aside various workshops and Q&As, especially for those interested in entering Miss South Africa,” said Flusk.

“Focusing on health and wellness is biokineticist, Letshego Zulu, who will be discussing fitness and healthy living while Dr Adè van Heerden [Miss SA 2018] speaks on mental health, depression, eating disorders and anxiety.”

Make-up expert, Gina Myers, will reveal the innermost secrets and tricks of the trade as well as leading social media law expert, Emma Sadleir who will point out the pitfalls of being online.

“A 6th Dan karate expert and creator of the acclaimed Women INPowered (WIP) will give a demonstration to empower women with tools to help them deal with life-threatening situations,” Flusk said.

The day will end with a workshop, organised by the Miss South Africa organisation, targeting those interested in entering Miss South Africa.

Experts include renowned pageant coach and Miss South Africa creative director, Werner Wessels followed by a masterclass by catwalk queen, Andiswa Manxiwa.

The Miss South Africa Gauteng regional competition adjudication will take place on 15 April with pageant judges, former Miss SA Bokang Montjane, Flusk and Suzette van der Merwe also former Miss SA.
