Voortrekkers Unika raises funds for Cansa

ROBINDALE – Colourful hair and shaved heads at shavathon.

The Voortrekkers Unika, in partnership with the staff and children of Laerskool Unika raised R 11 000 for the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa).

They did this by hosting their own Cansa shavathon on 15 March and was part of the Voortrekkers Unika’s annual community fundraising project. Staff agreed to spray their hair to encourage children and parents to participate in the shavathon.

The children were also allowed to come to school with their sprayed hair the following day.

Theresa Fouché of the Irish Rock Womens’ Club provided the spray for hair colouring and clippers for the brave souls who shaved their heads, and was invited to receive the cheque on behalf of Cansa.

The Voortrekkers Unika is looking forward to extending this project to the greater Randburg community next year.

The staff of Laerskool Unika was united in their support for the Cansa shavathon event held at the school.
