St Stithians College helps Randburg urban redevelopment

LYME PARK – Saint Stithians has purchased and restored various buildings in the Randburg CBD for office, storage and staff accommodation.

As part of their commitment to the environment and the Randburg community as a whole, Saint Stithians College has purchased and restored various buildings in the Randburg CBD for office, storage and staff accommodation.

The buildings are located on Bram Fischer Drive and have been renovated.

“Not only does the purchase of these buildings contribute to urban renewal, it also contributes towards our strategic plan to be as carbon neutral as possible by 2020,” said Saint Stithians College head of operations, Rene Swart.

The building forms part of the Randburg skyline.

Of the 400 staff members that work at the school, 68 are now able to live near the campus in the newly purchased and renovated buildings.

Swart added, “Everything that we do at Saints is there to create a learning opportunity for all staff and students, especially by helping to improve the environment of the CBD surrounding our campus… We all need to play our part.”

Throughout the campus, 16 solar water geysers have been installed to serve these buildings and others.

“We have also installed over 100 heat pumps to replace all conventional geysers on campus, which includes two large units at the boys boarding houses.”

A previously run-down apartment block which was purchased and renovated by Saint Stithians College now houses staff.
