Children at Bordeaux Primary School warned about illegal substances and abuse

BORDEAUX – Children learn about the dangers of drugs and bullying.

Metro police’s Community Outreach Programme along with the Gauteng Department of Education and Gauteng police are working hard to stop bullying and drugs in schools in the country.

Spokesperson for Metro police, Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the teams conducted presentations at Bordeaux Primary School on how to identify a bully as well as how to prevent and report bullying.

“The children were also encouraged to report such incidents to their teachers or open a case at their nearest police station in cases of a serious nature.

“The children were also taught how to identify certain drugs and how to avoid using or getting addicted to illegal substances. They were told where to get counselling if there were children who were already addicted to such substances,” Minnaar said.

The children were also taught about road and pedestrian safety.

More presentations will be conducted at other schools until the end of this school term.
