Colonel to bring bad cops to justice

HONEYDEW – Honeydew Police Station's acting head of support is ready to roll.

Colonel Johanna Zikalala has been named the acting head of support at Honeydew Police Station.

Zikalala has 35 years of experience under her belt in the supply chain department in different police stations. As the head of support, she will relieve a heavy burden on the station commander and allow him to concentrate on fighting crime.

“I have learned that although the pressure that police are under is immense, they have to adjust to it and work together with the community. Without the community, there is no police,” said Zikalala.

Her time in the law enforcement started at Orlando Police Station and then she worked at Johannesburg Central Police Station. She also worked at Gauteng police and Douglasdale police stations before settling at Honeydew Police Station.

Her duties are to support all the police station’s members such as the detectives and visible police members to ensure their duties are done.

“Being a police member is a calling and should be treated as such. Members must be committed and do the right thing because we were chosen from hundreds of other applicants.

“Members must stop with corruption. Batho Pele (People first) must be given top priority.”

Honeydew Police Station’s spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan praised the colonel for her work ethic and said she is an asset to the station.

Muthan said, “The colonel’s 35 years in the police shows her perseverance and dedication in the way she has done her duties. For her to have been sent to the different stations to improve service delivery shows she is capable.”
