It’s Christmas all year round for pets

RANDBURG – Santa Cause for Paws collects gifts for shelter and township animals all year round.

It may look a lot like Christmas, but local Randburg charity, Santa Cause for Paws collects gifts for shelter and township animals all year round.

Gifts donated to the charity by the ADReach Group.

The concept is simple – people pledge on the Santa Cause for Paws website, shop and pack their gift with five required items and then deliver it to one of the drop-off points.

“We distribute gifts to the animals in shelters and townships so that they too can feel loved,” said Claudia Ferreira, one of the founders of Santa Cause for Paws.

Supporters hand out treats and toys to the animals and give them attention on their visits. Donated items are given to various animal charities like Community Led Animal Welfare (CLAW) and Animal Allies.

Ferreira continued, “Gifts contain food, treats, toys, blankets and useful items. This ensures that the animals are shown love and that the shelter is given the necessary items they need to take care of the animals.”

Gifts donated by the community to help support the Animal Allies.

In December 2017, after staging a successful collection drive for the year, the charity donated a multitude of gifts which they received from members of the public to local Randburg charity Animal Allies.

“Over the years, Randburg residents have continued to support us, and Animal Allies has been one of the annual beneficiaries,” Ferreira said.

Santa Cause for Paws’ next big event is a sterilisation drive in partnership with Animal Allies on 27 February, with details to follow on their Facebook page.
