Cambridge curriculum at Acacia

NORTH RIDING — New school opens.

At the start of this year’s school term, North Riding welcomed a new educational institution in the area.

Acacia Private Schools officially opened its doors and is using an old guest house to accommodate them.

The use of the guest house is temporary, as a new building will be built towards the end of the year so learning will not be disrupted. The school was founded by Julikias Gandure who has more than 25 years experience in senior management in large corporates.

The new school offers a curriculum for Grade R to 7 for the primary school; and Forms 1 to A Level for high school.

Since the start of the school term, children have enrolled daily, pushing the number in classes to more than 30.

Acacia will be led by Fiona Wood and she comes with over 10 years of experience and is qualified with a BSc Medical majoring in medical biochemistry and microanatomy.

“The community can expect a quality education, small classes, individual attention, and experienced teachers in the Cambridge curriculum, and the children will get a well-rounded qualification,” said Wood.

“Most of us live in the North Riding community so we care about what goes on around us. My team and I are totally committed to ensuring that every learner who enters our doors graduates with academic excellence, Christian values, and the discipline of hard work,”

Although the schools’ sports fields have not yet been developed, they hope to offer all sports disciplines starting next term.

“I have a love of education, teaching children and guiding them to the best of their abilities. I love to help those children who struggle and might not be the top achievers to reach their potential. It’s not only about the top achievers but to improve those who might fall through the cracks at another school,” she said.
