Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training encourages matrics to make use of CACH

Randburg – Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Buti Manamela embarks on public engagement tour.

Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Buti Manamela kicked off his public engagement tour on 9 January.

Manamela conducted a walkabout at the Central Application Clearing House (CACH) online application centre in Randburg.

CACH aims to match applicants’ exam results and study preferences with job positions which need to be filled, however, no guarantee of jobs can be offered.

The centre takes an applicant’s Grade 12 results directly from the Department of Basic Education.

Manamela encouraged matrics to use the centre for information on the available courses in university as well. To date, more than 20 000 SMSes have been sent requesting the online service while more than 4 000 applicants have already registered.

Prospective first-year students who want to study at a university of their choice should not apply through the online service but contact that institution directly.

After visiting the centre, Manamela visited the University of Johannesburg as well as the Soweto West Gauteng TVET College.
