“I am so happy the whole birthing process went well,” said Miyelani Baloyi, a mother who still has to name her baby boy.

Baby Baloyi was born around 8am on Monday 1 January morning to his parents Solomon and Miyelani Baloyi.

“My baby is healthy and we are so happy he was born on this date, there is just something so significant about it.”

Mia Barnard

“The 38 weeks that we were due to have our baby was close to the end of 2017, but we chose to have our baby by caesarean section on the 1st,” said Liezl Barnard.

The baby girl, Mia Barnard, was born in the early hours of Monday 1 January morning at the hospital, with a healthy weight.

“We were given a few options to choose the date of the birth, but we thought the 1st is such a special date,” said Barnard.

“I am so happy that we chose Olivedale Hospital. The staff have worked amazingly over the New Year period, and they could not be in better hands.”

“I am so happy that my birthing process went smoothly,” said Randhir Raghubir, father of a healthy baby girl born on Monday 1 January.

Baby Raghubir was born at 39 weeks, and according to her parents, the ideal time would have been one week before.

Her parents chose this date due to its significance and recommendation by a doctor.

“Every New Year’s eve will be a celebration,” Raghubir continued.

“We have not chosen what to name our baby girl as yet; culturally we have to speak to our priest and pick what best suits her astrologically.”
