Zandpruit children receive much-needed school items thanks to Randburg community

ZANDSPRUIT – Zamukuhle Daycare and Aftercare Centre hosted a festive Christmas party with the help from generous community members and a local charity organisation.

Ntabiseng Princess Kwakwari from Zamukuhle Daycare and Aftercare Centre, with the help of Beanies for Beings, hosted a Christmas party and graduation ceremony for the children on 9 December.

Megan Botha from Beanies for Beings, a charity organisation which assists community members of all ages said, “Princess did the most incredible job in making her little creche, in the midst of absolute poverty, look like a fairy tale venue on the day.”

The wider Randburg community also brought festive cheer to the centre and donated presents, clothing items, blankets and stationery bags which were handed out to the children.

“These precious little graduates all received certificates from Princess and put on the cutest nativity play for all attending.”

On the day, children enjoyed a hot lunch with juice. “Not one of them started to eat until everyone was served and said their prayers.

“The ladies who work at the centre received ‘Because You Care’ handbags filled with toiletries and products and the four men who assist Princess each received a grocery hamper and T-shirts from Beanies for Beings.

“What amazed me the most about these children is that not one of them went up to the sweet table to help themselves or opened their party packs or their presents.

“They exhibited such restraint, respect and good manners. I know that I and many other people and children could learn a lot from these little beings as far as respect, gratitude, humility and good manners are concerned.”

According to Botha, the children own very little. “However, they possess so much and are so rich in their characters that is absolutely invaluable and cannot be bought but has been taught and instilled by Princess who has a deep love for each and every one of them, What a privilege to share in their day.”

Kwakwari said, “I would like to thank Megan and everyone in the community that made this day special for the children… Happy hearts for their wonderful donation of presents and Christmas cake.

“I would also like to thank Office National and others who donated suitcases and schoolbags for the children; they also gave party packs that were given to the children on their last day of school.”
