Annual Wobblers and Wigglers Charity run a success

GREENSIDE – Runners have fun in aid of charity.

More than a thousand runners with silly and colourful hats had the imagination running wild at this year’s Wobblers and Wigglers Charity Hat Run.

The 33rd annual 8km club run was hosted by Pirates Road Running on 16 December in Greenside.

What makes this event special is that runners are encouraged to wear creative and eye-catching hats to create a festive atmosphere. Pirates Road Running chairperson, David Case said the more than a thousand runners hailed from different clubs in South Africa.

“It is always great to see everyone and how creative they can get with their outfits. We not only had runners belonging to clubs joining the run but social runners as well,” said Chase.

This year’s proceeds were donated to Marang House, a non-profit organisation in Northcliff that cares for children with illnesses.

“We have supported Marang House in the past and we wanted to do so again. They look after children with illnesses who need all the help they can get,” Chase added.
