Festive season patrols continue in Honeydew

HONEYDEW – Police continue festive season operations.

Honeydew Police Station is continuing its fight against crime and is intensifying its festive season operations.

Police officers have been patrolling at different malls within the police station’s area of operation.

The festive season initiative was launched in November by the South African Police Service to allow the community to enjoy a safer festive season.

The initiative includes heightened police visibility and crime prevention operations at various crime hotspots within the community.

Spokesperson for the police station, Captain Balan Muthan said the national operations and patrols will ensure that the community and businesses are safe this festive season.

Safety tips for festive season shopping:

  • If possible, have someone accompany you when shopping
  • Always check that your car is locked before leaving it to guard against car-jamming devices
  • Never leave packages and shopping bags visible on your seats, rather lock them in your boot
  • When you take purchases to your car and want to continue shopping, park your car in another parking bay so as to avoid those who might be following you
  • Have your car keys in your hand before you get to your car. When you return to your car be aware of your surroundings
  • If you suspect you are being followed, do not drive directly home but drive to the nearest police station.
