Taxi crash leaves four critical on Malibongwe

RANDBURG – Twenty three passengers sustain minor to critical injuries when taxis collide.

A taxi accident on Malibongwe Drive left scores injured and four passengers in a critical condition on the morning of 5 December.

According to ER24’s Russell Meiring, a taxi carrying passengers crashed into the side of another. One came to a halt in the middle of the busy road while the second was at the side of the road.

“Several occupants were found walking at the scene while three patients were found trapped inside one of the taxis,” said Meiring.

Patients were treated at the scene then transported to various hospitals for further treatment.

“The patients were treated for their injuries and the critically injured provided with advanced life support interventions,” added Meiring.

Traffic was heavily affected and reportedly backed up from Bellairs Drive in North Riding.

JMPD assisted with traffic diversion while Emer-G-Med paramedics worked alongside ER24 to assist the injured.
