Project Pencil Case takes off

ZANDSPRUIT – There's a drive to collect stationery for disadvantaged children.

To ensure underprivileged children entering foundation phase at school have all the tools they need to succeed, Beanies for Beings has launched Project Pencil Case.

The project, headed by Megan Botha seeks to collect 400 pencil cases during the festive season.

The schools that have been selected in the project include Ivory Park and Witkoppen primary schools, a school in Soweto as well as Princess’ Créche and Aftercare in Zandspruit.

“We have seen a great need in each of the beneficiaries we have selected because we heard how the children go to school without stationery. If there is a surplus then we will find other beneficiaries who are in need of assistance,” said Botha.

Beanies for Beings is aiming to hand over the donated stationery to the schools before they start classes next year.
