A walk to save Sundowner Dam

SUNDOWNER – Put on your best walking shoes and head over to Sundowner Dam to join fellow residents on a fun walk in aid to save it.

Join fellow residents on 2 December in a walk organised to help save Sundowner Dam.

Randburg Sun previously reported on the current situation at the dam.

The ongoing degradation of the dam has changed it from a natural beauty to an eyesore. This is caused by alien plants and debris which erodes the dam’s banks.

Resident Leigh Welsh and Prestige Reality will host a 5km walk which will see proceeds go towards the rehabilitation of the dam.

Welsh explained that problems with the dam started about two years ago. “We hope to raise funds to save our dam and create a thriving community park and dam,” said Welsh, adding that their biggest challenge would be collecting the money needed to make the dam better.

Welsh hoped that the whole community would come through and show their support to the cause that would be beneficial to the whole community.

Ward 134 Councillor Wendy Alexandra is also expected to attend the event.

The walk starts at 10am and ends at 12pm and starts and finishes along Aries Avenue.
