JRA amends road markings in Hurlingham

HURLINGHAM – Road markings restored on Republic Road.

The incorrect road markings on Republic Road have been fixed.

The Johannesburg Roads Agency resurfaced Republic Road, from View Road up to William Nicol Drive.

After the resurfacing was complete, the road was remarked.

Ward 102 councillor David Potter received numerous complaints from community members about how the previous road markings were causing traffic confusion and congestion.

Potter said, “Motorists brought this to my attention and my office engaged with the Johannesburg Roads Agency.”

The error occurred on Republic Road between Woodlands Avenue and Waggon Road.

There are now three straight lanes towards William Nicol Drive and a fourth lane on the left which will accommodate traffic turning left onto William Nicol Drive.

“This will improve the flow of traffic during peak periods.”

The road agency’s spokesperson, Bertha Peters-Scheepers confirmed that the changed lane markings were requested by Potter.

She added that the agency encourages residents and motorists to communicate with them over issues they have.
