Police festive operation continues in Randburg

RANDBURG –Randburg police arrest 53 suspects.

Randburg police officers continued their festive season operations this past weekend with great success.

They arrested 53 suspects for various crimes which include assault with intent to do grievously body harm, possession of housebreaking implements, possession of dagga, fraud, theft, shoplifting and driving under the influence.

All suspects are expected to appear in Randburg Magistrates’ Court this week.

Spokesperson for Randburg Police Station, Makgowanyana Maja said their festive season operations have been going well, however, he warned the community to continue to stay vigilant.

“The community must be careful while shopping and be attentive to what is around them and if anyone might be following them.

“Using your card instead of carrying cash around when possible is another way to avoid becoming a target of criminals,” said Maja.

He added that stokvel members should also use the bank to conduct their business rather than drawing large amounts of cash at ATMs.

Maja also encouraged businesses to change their banking patterns regularly as they might be under surveillance from criminals.

“We also encourage the community to report any suspicious activity in their surroundings to the police. This can occur in residential areas and malls but the most important issue is to remain vigilant and safe at all times.”
