Linden police have become concerned about a string of house break-ins in the Robin Hills area.
There have been five reported incidents in the last week between Winston Avenue and Esmeralda Crescent.
Warrant Officer Robert Diphoko said, “It seems like Robin Hills is a growing area of concern… Five break-ins in the same street in under a week is not something we can tolerate.
“The crimes are happening in the very early hours of the morning when people are asleep and caught off-guard.”
Diphoko commented on one of the homeowner’s recollections of the events and said, “The criminals broke into his garage in the early hours of the morning… After the alarm went off, they made off with his gate motor. We have increased police activity in the area, particularly in the early hours to curb this situation.”
Captian Alex Vermaak commented, “This is a gang that has been troubling the area for some time now. I am appealing to security companies to step up their patrols, and community members to report any suspicious activity.”
Linden police spokesperson, Walter Spencer, said the suspects are unknown and the investigation is continuing. There is speculation that there are two criminals who are on foot. There have also been reports that a getaway vehicle was parked in the area.
Police are warning homeowners to be extra vigilant about crime and their own safety over the next few months, as we are now entering the silly season.
It is the time of year that criminals know people are winding down, getting their bonuses and shopping for Christmas presents.
