Now you can check the crime statistics for your area directly.
Minister of Police, Fikile Mbalula recently released the nation’s crime statistics which revealed that serious crimes had increased slightly. Between last year and this year, 2 129 001 serious crimes were recorded with the murder rate and other serious crime decreasing by 1.8 per cent.
Carjacking has increased by 14 per cent, which is the highest in the last 10 years. Sexual offences dropped by 4.3 per cent and rape dropped by 4 per cent. These stats are for the whole country, however, the South African Police Service released the stats record per station.
The Randburg Sun compared six serious crime issues at police stations operating in the papers’ distribution area. These graphs allow community members to see how well their police station compares to the other.
