JUST IN: Protest underway in Zandspruit following disconnections by City Power

ZANDSPRUIT – JMPD are on scene monitoring the situation.

Residents from the Zandspruit informal settlement are beside themselves with anger following an operation by the City to disconnect all illegal electricity connections.

Ward 114 councillor Victor Mafinya has confirmed that a protest is underway and that residents are burning tyres on Beyers Naudé Drive.

Metro police have barricaded Beyers Naudé Drive and motorists have been advised to use alternative routes.
