Fractions make a whole lot of sense at Trinityhouse

NORTH RIDING – Trinityhouse North Riding debugs the myth that maths cannot be made fun.

When it comes to maths, there tends to be many myths surrounding the subject.

Some of them being that maths is not creative, that it requires logic and not intuition and that great mathematicians solve problems quickly in their heads. Trinityhouse Northriding managed to debug one big myth that maths is not fun.

Chad Smit confidently writes the fraction after a collaboration with his partner.

Christelle Wolmarans, public relations officer for the school, said the Grade 3s showed just how much fun the subject could be.

She explained the class delved a bit deeper into unit fractions and developed a deeper understanding of the concept. “The children learned to order them on a number line to support comparing fractions in future lessons,” said Wolmarans.

She explained that the children also had the opportunity to showcase their knowledge and interact with their peers.

“Maths class was an absolute blast and they look forward to the next lessons.”
