Roeline van Eck, a teacher at the school, said the matrics were firmly situated on cloud nine as they embraced a night solely planned for their enjoyment.

“The matrics, along with their parents and teachers, were whisked ‘Up, up and away’ on Flight TKS2017,” said Van Eck, adding that their travel-themed dance took place at Randpark Golf Club.

Njabulo Mbetse stuns the crowd with his stunning partner Melissa Chandler.

She said the theme was all too fitting for the class, who would soon be spanning their wings and flying up, up and away into new horizons.

“The marvellous event committee, which consisted of those in Grade 11 and their parents and teachers, were responsible for the night of glamour and created an authentic experience with beautiful details that truly transported the guests to another time and place,” said Van Eck.

The matric dance involved suitcases, compasses and passports in hand, with the Grade 11 flight attendants, captains and ramp operators hosting their guests and creating an unforgettable flight of fantasy.
