The women of House of Grace receive day of empowerment

NORTH RIDING – Soulstice Life gives the women of House of Grace hope.

NORTH RIDING – Soulstice Life gave the women of Grace House Community Centre a day of empowerment and pampering at the Garden Venue in North Riding.

Operations manager of Soulstice Life, Debra Neilson said the day, which was free to the women, was a humbling experience for all who attended. “We never anticipated that we would meet such beautiful women,” Neilson said.

The centre is an organisation which acts as a place of refuge for women who have faced various challenges in their lives. At R20 a day, these women get a meal, a bed and a shower between 5pm and 7.30am.

“The ladies loved the day. At first, there was apprehension but as the day went on they all opened up.”

On the day, the women received motivational talks from various speakers as well as a yoga session and a makeover. All these aspects were put together to remind the women of the beauty and strength that lies within them.

After a day of motivational talks, yoga, as well as a makeover and photoshoot, the women of House of Grace are grateful for the day at the Garden Venue.

Neilson said she wanted this day to bring hope, hope that would stay with the women past this one day.

“At the various sessions, the women shared their stories with everyone and even though some of these women live together at the house, it was the first time they really got to know each other.”

Intuitive and transformational coach, Garth Palmer, who was one of the speakers, said people tend to get where they go in life by default.

“Obstacles arrive, they get through it and they carry on, but the truly successful people live their life by design. Design is all about understanding who you are, making yourself whole thus making yourself an example to others,” said Palmer.

He concurred with Neilson and said the day for him was also a humbling experience as he could see the difference he added to the women’s lives.
